Will the real Ryan Zimmerman please stand up?

That was Ryan Zimmerman’s line from day 1 of the season up through his 30 game hit streak.
Then a few days ago, Keith Law “tweeted” about how Zimmerman has been struggling since the hit streak.
Well, here are the numbers through now, post-hit streak: .221/.329/.353.
So what is it Zimmerman? Are you going to be great? Or are you going to play below expectations (some expected huge things) as you did before this year?
The overall numbers this season are still really good. A .293/.367/.489 line, and excellent defense at the hot corner.
But Zimmerman could have simply gotten hot during that streak, and now is regressing back to what he was prior to 2009.
Or, perhaps he is great, but simply slumping now. Maybe he returns to early season form shortly.
Either way the Nationals have a good player. Because the kind of defense he plays, combined with above-average hitting, will result in that.
But seriously, how good are you Ryan Zimmerman?

When you think about good young 3B, you think about David Wright, Evan Longoria, and Ryan Zimmerman, soon to be joined
by Gordan Beckham, that Cuban 3B prospect the White Sox have (forget his name), Youkilis, Mat Gamel, and Pedro Alvarez. Out of all of those, there’s only 1 I’d choose to start my team with over Zimmerman. Guess what his name is? (hint: it starts with an “E” and rhymes with “Kevin Longoria”)

You wouldn’t take Wright over Zimmerman?

You mean I wouldn’t take the guy decided not to play baseball at the school I attend but to instead sign with the f’n Mets? Ya, I’d rather have Zimmerman. Nah, seriously. I think Zimmerman is a much better leader than Wright. And considering defense, I’d rather start my franchise with Zimmerman. And I still think the sky’s the limit for him.

I would take Wright over Zim. But Zimmerman is good, I don’t disagree about that.
