Minor League Players That Everyone Should Look Out For
With the September call-ups right around the corner, excitement grows for every minor league player. The excitement not only lies with the players but the fans as well. So, who should we be exited about? Which players have what it takes to make an impact on this talented league? There are a lot of factors that come into play when trying to figure out who you will see starting their career in your favorite team’s uniform. For instance, position plays a big role. If the Tigers have an up and coming catcher, there is little chance he will break through, with Avilia and Martinez on the payroll. Let’s take a look at who will be gracing MLB with there presence in the next few months.
Desmond Jennings of the Durham Bulls has the talent to join the rays at any time. In 132 double and triple A games Jennings hit .318, with 11 homeruns, 62 RBIs, and 52 stolen bases. A threat any team could use. Another up and coming Ray is a pitcher named Jeremy Hellickson. This young pitcher has been compared to Roy Oswalt on many occasions. In 117 triple A innings he has an ERA of 2.45, racking up 123 strikeouts. Without any shortage of prospects, the Marlins will soon showcase first basemen Logan Morrison. This hitting machine has the stats to back him up. Hitting .307, with an amazing .907 OPS, and an on base percentage of .427. Moving back to pitching, the Minnesota Twins are no stranger to prospects, being known for their strong farm system. Anthony Slama has posted a 1.71 ERA in 43 games, earning 17 saves. With all these prospects this list would still not be complete without mentioning Domonic Brown. He has dominated the minors, slugging twenty home runs and adding 68 RBIs. He did this while still hitting .327 and stealing 17 bases. With Phillies star Shane Victorino sidelined, he should see plenty of major league playing time.Related Article : Monthly Awards: June 2011
